I Resolve to Blog Regularly (Maybe)

Once again, it's been forever since I've posted.  I'm quite the slacker when it comes to blogging but my brother Daniel and his wife Chelsea moved into our basement in May and Chelsea is making me blog.  I guess she's not really making me -I'm much stronger than her so she could never really force me to do anything -but she has challenged me to start blogging again.  So I'm resolving to blog at least once a week (which will be quite the accomplishment if I can pull it off).

Last week was the 4th of July -our Independence Day.  I love Independence Day.  I have a strong military family -my dad is in the Air Reserves (previously active duty Air Force), my father-in-law is retired Army National Guard, my husband and two of his brothers are currently in the Army National Guard, and I have a brother-in-law in the Air Reserves.  I am so grateful for them and for their service to this country and I'm so very grateful for all of the men and women who have fought for and defended our country in the past.  This truly is a land of freedom and because of that, so many things are possible for those of us who live here.

I'm especially grateful for my freedom of religion.  Because of this freedom, the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ was able to be restored to the earth again through the prophet Joseph Smith.  Because of this freedom I have the right to believe that and to worship how I want to worship.  And others have the right to believe differently.

Also this week, my mom's side of the family had their family reunion.  Thursday was kind of a do your own thing day.  My family (mom, dad, brothers and sisters) went out to lunch and then to see The Amazing Spiderman (which I really enjoyed).  We then spent the night in Park City and went to Jordanelle on Friday.  For those of you who don't know -I have a lot of fears (some may even be considered phobias).  One of my big fears is water -but I went kayaking anyway.  It was actually a lot of fun.  I had a life jacket on and the water was quite calm. If I had fallen in I'm sure I would have hyperventilated but I didn't so it was fine.

Then we went to Heber Valley Camp for the rest of the reunion and I faced another of my fears there -heights.  There's a challenge course and we had to climb a tall pole and then walk across a log way up high in the air to another pole and then zip line down.  It was terrifying but I did it!

Here's a photo of my terrified face for your viewing pleasure:

And here's a photo of Devan -just because he's cute:
On Saturday night we went out to dinner and Leatherby's with my sister Laura, her roommate Janae, and our good friend Kortney.  We don't get to see Kortney very often because she lives in Boston (she actually lives in Texas but likes to pretend she lives in Boston -inside joke).  It was great to see her again even if I had to get hugged by Laura's creepy roommate. Lol
